Quebec Skilled Workers

The Quebec Skilled Worker Program is one of the most attractive Canadian immigration programs. It is very accessible to applicants with at least a beginner level knowledge of French, and it considers and accepts applicants with a wide range of educational backgrounds. In addition, the required settlement funds are significantly lower than the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and if you have a foreign degree and work experience in an area that is in high demand in Quebec your application may be eligible for fast-track processing.

To qualify for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program you must intend to settle in Quebec, have at least beginner level knowledge of French, and at least 6 months work experience. The following selection factors are also taken into account:

  • • your schooling (your level of education and area of training)
  • • your work experience

  • • your knowledge of French and English (knowledge of French is an important asset and you must submit the results of a standarized language proficiency test)
  • • your stays in Quebec and family relationship with a Quebec resident
  • • having a valid employment offer
  • • characteristics regarding your accompanying spouse or common-law spouse, if applicable
  • • your capacity for financial self-sufficiency

In addition, you must also show that you have enough money to support yourself and your accompanying family members after you arrive in Quebec. The amount of money you need is determined by the size of your family.
