Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is increasing the number of temporary resident visa (TRV) applications it will process for Palestinian extended family members in Gaza from 1,000 to 5,000. This measure aims to help more families reunite with their relatives in Canada.

Despite current travel restrictions out of Gaza, Immigration Minister Marc Miller stated that the IRCC is preparing to assist more people as conditions evolve. The department is issuing more web codes for TRV applications and providing local authorities with names of those who have passed preliminary screenings to facilitate their exit from Gaza.

Eligibility for the TRV requires applicants to meet specific criteria, such as having a passport issued by the Palestinian Authority, being in Gaza at the time of application, and having an eligible Canadian citizen or permanent resident relative. Family members include spouses, children, parents, and siblings, among others.
