A popular Canadian immigration program run by the province of Quebec will reopen for 5,000 new applications at some point during the next 12 months, it has been announced.

More than 91,000 immigration candidates have submitted expressions of interest through Quebec’s online Arrima portal since it opened last September — a six-month period dominated by the rise of the province’s new Coalition Avenir Québec government.   

The population in advanced countries is growing at low rates and aging at the same time. In its latest provincial draw, which took place on March 21, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued 146 new invitations to apply for a provincial nomination to skilled workers, graduates, and entrepreneurs interested in permanent settlement in the province.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program invited 323 candidates under Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC streams in the latest draw, which took place August 22. Candidates who receive a nomination under the Express Entry BC Skilled worker and international graduates categories will receive an additional 600 points toward their CRS score.

The Quebec immigration department carried out the first round of invitations through Arrima based on the new expression of interest scoring system which was introduced in July.

Federal skilled worker program will reopen in May, 2013

The (QSWP) will reopen in under a week, with postal applications to be accepted from November 4, 2015. The QSWP is a popular Canadian immigration program, with successful applicants and their families obtaining Canadian permanent resident status.

222 Skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs have been invited to apply to the British Colombia immigration programs.In the province's latest immigration draw, which took place on April 19, 2017. Of these Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued, 16 were to Entrepreneur candidates. The remaining 206 were issued to candidates in five sub-categories managed through the Skilled immigration registration system .

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program invited 326 skilled workers and graduates to apply for a provincial nomination in the latest draw that took place on April 4.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has called on the government of Quebec to increase the overall annual intake of immigrants to the province, from around 50,000 to 60,000. The recommendations were presented yesterday to the Committee on Citizen Relations as part of consultations on immigration planning in Quebec for the period 2017-2019.

Quebec’s Minister of Immigration Kathleen Weil has announced a new promotional campaign to encourage immigrant enrollment in French-language courses. The $750,000 initiative will focus on promoting courses through social media and community websites, as well as in newspapers, on the radio and on public transport. Ms Weil outlined the plan on Monday July 11.

Ahmed Hussen Canada’s Immigration Minister says the federal government’s multi-year immigration levels plan is on track and $440 million will be committed to ensure its success. Job vacancies increased across Canada in the last three months of 2017 by nearly 25 per cent over the same period in 2016, new data from Statistics Canada reveal.
