Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact candidates invited

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program has issued new invitations under the Express Entry BC, Skills Immigration and Entrepreneur Immigration streams in new draws.

Canada’s Immigration Minister, Ahmed Hussen, played up the positive impact of immigrants and refugees on the country and its economy in an address this week to international immigration experts gathered in the nation’s capital city, Ottawa.

New system applies to some Canadian permanent applications received starting July 31, 2018 Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will now provide some Canadian permanent residence applicants with processing times that are forward-looking, rather than estimations based on historical data.

CIC has announced the creation of a new Federal Skilled Worker category for international students studying towards a PhD in Canada. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least 2 years of study towards a PhD, or graduated from a Canadian PhD program within the past 12 months. A maximum of 1,000 applications from this category will be considered for processing each year by CIC. The first cap year for the PhD stream begins on November 5, 2011.

The Immigrant Investor Venture Capital (IIVC) Pilot Program has reopened. CIC will accept applications until April 15, 2015, or until a maximum of 500 applications are received.

Proposed regulatory changes announced today to the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), which  will allow Canada to better select skilled workers who can “hit the ground running” upon arrival.

The cap of 500 complete applications has been reached for the Federal Skilled Worker Program eligible occupation Pharmacists. The cap does not apply to applicants with a valid offer of arranged employment.
